From Village Wisdom to Global Wellness
In 1995, driven by curiosity about the long-lost legend of Lengis Arak Nyuh in Bengkel Village, Dr. Gede Ngurah Wididana (Pak Oles) began researching herbal oil production. For two years, he gathered pieces of knowledge from his family and Balinese usada manuscripts, then combined them with the fermentation science of Effective Microorganisms (EM) he learned in Japan.
Today, Pak Oles is a leading figure in the Indonesian herbal industry, with a variety of natural products trusted across generations.
A Journey from Bali to Japan: The Birth of Bokashi
1997 – Journey
Gede Ngurah Wididana, better known as Pak Oles, was born in Bengkel Village, North Bali, to a farming family. After completing his education at the Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University, Pak Oles pursued a master’s degree at the University of the Ryukyus, Okinawa, Japan. There, he became acquainted with Effective Microorganisms (EM) technology, a fermentation innovation that would later become a crucial foundation for his research and development of herbal products to this day.
